Well, not much of a garden, but "my yard" doesn't sound as nice.

Going waaay back to this post, I think you were on the right track with the sunflower thing. There are quite a few Helianthus here that look very similar to my (pictured) mystery plant. I haven't found an exact match yet, but it's almost certainly some variety, possibly even the Jerusalem Artichoke you mentioned. I'll have to look at it again in the daylight.

I've reconsidered, and have decided your yellow blossoms are one of the yellow varieties of coneflower. The leaves don't look sufficiently sunflower-ish.

No, it's not that, but thanks for mentioning it, because I do have some elsewhere that I couldn't identify! What are the chances?

Urk. *giggle* Not Jerusalem artichoke, not one of the other sunflowers, or not a cone flower?

It's the leaves, more than anything else, which are convincing me that your yellow-flowering bush or clump is one of the asteracea. But I'm wrong about these sorts of things at least as often as I'm right, so I'll be interested in knowing what this plant is, too, when you find out. 8^)

I mean I have yellow coneflower which came up inside of something else. It's apparently a wildflower.

My parents have that yellow flower bush in their yard, if you're really interested I can ask what it's called.

I am curious because I'm almost certain I bought it at a plant sale labeled "bee balm" which it most certainly is not! It is massive, whatever it is.

Yikes, sorry it took so long to get back to you. So, what my parents have is an Euryops flower/plant...which at first glance looks like yours, but now that I'm really looking at the shape of the leaves & flowers...maybe not?

No problem! Hmm... they are very similar in flower and size, but the leaves are very different. Thanks for trying, though!
