Matt Smith Fangirling

Feb 23, 2014 20:28

I think I may be slowly turning into a Matt Smith fangirl. He was already my Doctor and I think he's amazing in Doctor Who but for me the true test of acting talent comes when you see someone in different roles. And now that I've been seeing his other stuff, everything I see just makes me like him more. Christopher and his Kind was very different ( Read more... )

Have you watched his cameo in 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl'? Very short but he's so sweet!

I haven't, but it's one of the things that is available via Netflix, so it's in my queue. Good to know his part is short going in. Some other shows will be harder to find. Have you seen any of them? Party Animals, Moses Jones or The Street? Also looking for Bert & Dickie and his short film Together, although the short film may be easier to find than the others. Yeah, I kind of want to watch whatever I can get my hands on now.

Party Animals was big on tumblr so that was my introduction to his other "tv work". Bert and Dickie was very promoted so I caught that right away. Only seen one part of Moses Jones. Wasn't really impressed by it. Glad to hear you watched 'Womb' it's dark and creepy and I am BEYOND thrilled to see him in such a dark creepfest of a film. I need to rewatch that!

I don't know if I ever need to see Womb again...beyond a couple of scenes...but he did do a great job with the role even though I do not like creepy movies like that.

*Beams* I saw all three of these things (though not in this order) in the middle of S6 hiatus and just...fell more in love with him. such phenomenal talent! Blows my mind, really.

And such a doll-baby 'off-camera'!!

*Squishes you in fangirly sympathy*

Matt ftw! :D *hugs you*

I have yet to see his other works… =P But I'm sure he's brilliant.

*hugs back*

You really should see him in something else, although hello offbeat choices. I don't know if I'd watch any of these things if he wasn't in them. Definitely not Womb. Christopher and his Kind was good, but like Womb, you have to be comfortable with the kind of story it is going in. You could always use it as a break from your Classic Who watching ;)

Quite true-but that's exactly the thing, I haven't even made time for classic!Who in weeks and it's 25 minutes long… ;P

I kind of love psychological, ambiguous and a bit twisted things, so I don't know about Womb, it draws me in a bit and yet I'm not sure. There's Eva Green and Hannah Murray in it, too…

Well if you like psychological and twisted Womb sounds like your kind of film. It is definitely well done.

Hahaha, you just described my descent into being an Alex Kingston fan. I'd never heard of her before Doctor Who (much to all my friends' appall because I didn't watch ER), but now I am just completely in love with her work.

I used to watch ER as a kid and go "I really like the British woman, what's her name again?!"

Now my mom watches Doctor who like "River is great, what's her name though?"

And I'm like "That's Alex Bloody Kingston!" Lol

LOL! I used to watch ER also, so I kind of remember her character and liking her. Might need to rewatch some now just because, although I have a lot lower tolerance for the gross medical/surgery scenes now than I used to :p

I've been checking out Alex's stuff as well, but not conflicted about my feelings for her. Thought she was pretty cool before Who and now just like her even more.

It's weird, cause I don't even especially find Matt Smith attractive! He just looks so goofy looking to me, but I dig the short hair and he takes the sexiest pictures ( and good lord can that man act!). So now he's just weirdly sexy! Lol

I've seen him in some photos and thought he looked sexy and then in other photos he still looks goofy to me. I think he's somewhat of an acquired taste...And this process of me changing my thinking about him from goofy to maybe attractive is a little disconcerting :p

Haha, see now I'm just accepting it! I thought he was downright gorgeous on the inside, but Amy says it best! Sometimes that personality just makes you so beautiful! Matt is a beautiful man!

I'm still a bit of a newish fan, so haven't gotten to that acceptance stage yet. But his personality is fantastic and his acting chops are really winning me over.
