I didn't expect this, but I'm sure most of you will find this change pleasant. Anybody who has had a look around the place have any recommendations for dinner?

Yeah, I went to a real nice little bistro last night.

Heads up, I'm gonna be out late again.

And where is that, please?

You take your time. I'll probably be wandering around at high hours myself.

It was called something like-- [Affecting a terrible French accent:] -- Mc'Deuneulds.

Sweet. Have a blast. See you never.

[Cassie has spent some time around the park, hands in her pockets, quietly enjoying herself and the calm (if not a tiny bit crowded) atmosphere of the whole place. She figures she could probably spend most--if not the whole--day here, just wandering the park. It's that cool.

As she slowly makes a path around the fountain, she spots a familiar face. He looks deep in thought, and she debates with herself whether she should bother him. But then she seems to decide to approach him, a friendly smile on her face.] Afternoon.

[ He smiles, scarred eye narrowed at the sunlight, and a strange meek pressing of the lips at seeing who it is. ]

Hey. [ He turns around from the railing, now leaning on one hand. ] About as quiet as it gets in here, huh?

[She comes to lean on the rails as well, and quickly peeks over at the fountain.

Then she glances back to him and nods.] It's really nice here. Have you explored it much yet?

[ He smiles. ] Just the gardens, actually. I was to drop by the Notre Dame cathedral this evening. You?

[Freddy spent most of the first day just wandering aimlessly, getting a feel for the place, the people in it. He wasn't sure what to expect, especially since the last time he got off the boat he ended up running around trying to slay overgrown lizards the whole damn time with a ridiculous accent, but this one...he actually seems to be himself this time. It's something of a relief, and it's a nice change from avoiding Pink and trying to anticipate what fresh insanity the boat's going to come up with next.

But now, feel found and on more certain terms with the place, Freddy's looking for a diversion. Suit abandoned, he's clad in plaid and jeans, and he looks comfortable. Almost like he belongs here, although it's mostly artifice.

He spots Locke and ambles over, leaning against the railing and puffing away at his obligatory cigarette, blowing rings every so often. The picture of cool, or that's the intention, anyway.]

Never been to Europe before. ...Shit, never been outta the fuckin' country before. Only left the state once ( ... )

[ He turns around and smiles at the known face, Freddy's light tone a contrast to his own serious thoughts, before directing his attention to the great scape again. ]

The state? I wasn't a big traveler myself. Only ever been to Canada and Australia. [ And a certain tropical island, but that wasn't in the maps. ]

For what it could have been, Paris isn't bad. [ He still can't help but sound a bit disenchanted. ]

...Yeah. California. Born'n bred. [It's not funny but he looks like he thinks it is a bit.] Left it once for business, but that was it. Didn't last long anyway.

[A sidelong glance to gauge Locke's reaction, but it's far from obvious, easily mistaken for a kid seeking acceptance.]

Can't help thinkin' there's somethin' coming, you know? Like this ain't really it, there's somethin' else here we just ain't seen yet. I mean...it don't look like the pictures, but it ain't bad or weird or anything. It's just...shinier. [Pause, and transitions are evidently overrated because there's no segue.] You've been to Australia?

[ He reflects the lighthearted look, although his pronounced dimples only ambiguously resemble a wide smile, and is looking at Freddy as he talks so he catches the sidelong glance full-on. He grins a little more genuinely. ]

Really? I'm from California as well. Tustin, exactly. Good we're getting to see more world now. [ He turns to look at the distance himself. ] Pretty or not, I know I won't get very attached. If it's not our time, why should we think it's our space?

...I have been to Australia. [ And he pauses, pondering on what to say. He could tell him about the walkabout... about what he didn't do. Or he could lie about it and tell him about the island instead. But he decides against it, and just literally handwaves it away. ] Business trip, not much to see there. No emus or koalas sighted, sadly.

Yes! It's fascinating to see sites of Earth importance in person. And yourself?

Well... not bad. Bit crowded for my taste, but the parks are nice for sure.
