I'm trying to make some sort of sense to what happened in my country yesterday, but there is none. I went to bed last night knowing that a bomb had killed 7 in Oslo, and a gunman killed at least 10 on Utøya. I knew the numbers would rise, but to wake up to see "over 80 killed" was another shock. Thank you. I've been lucky, no one I'm close to has been killed. But someone I know is heavily involved in the party this happened to, and I know a close friend of hers is among the missing, along with many people she knew. And I'm also terrified that when the lists of names and the pictures of the victims start appearing, there might be someone among them I didn't even realise could have been there.

Whatever I say is gonna sound petty near what happened, but let me say I'm so sorry about this. I'm also relieved that you and your close ones are okay.

[...]the answer should be more democracy, and I agree. We can't let fear overtake us.

No, it doesn't sound petty. It really helps to see so many well-wishes and people expressing their sympathy and solidarity, both here and on twitter. And I know survivors and families have expressed gratitude for the same. So even if just a little, it does help.

we will. This country is built on a strong sense of democracy and solidarity and a way of living. We won't let that be ruined, I truly believe we wont.
