That's a more difficult question, honestly. And that although you are speaking with a gourmet when it comes to flowers. It has a bit of the full taste of red roses, but also a strong trace of something fresher and younger, like cherry blossoms. Then again, that's not all. There's a hint of lotus in the taste, too. All in all, a really pleasant aroma. You should try it.
Well. Honestly, I don't know any canon details on how he lost his eyesight. The only thing I know is that he lost it "when he was young" which is like a hundred years ago, at least. Honestly, I'd have said that he lost his eyesight in a fight. Now the problem is just that his eyes are still there, so obviously they weren't stabbed or something. >_> And therefore... going with illness.
I guess it went rather slowly, so it'd have left him time to get it, adjust, and become the bitter, hateful little shit he is now. ♥ I guess towards the end of it at least, he'd have tried looking at bright and colourful things, because they are easier to see when you are going blind. Like sunsets, fires, brightly coloured clothes (hi thar Taka)... things like that. I'd somewhat like to think that the last thing he really could see was a huge fire of sorts, because it would tie in nicely with his "destruction = beautiful & fun" thing. I don't know what specifically, though. D:
He adores her. >D And, at the same time, is so jealous it hurts. Nizou's problem, which plays a part in making him such an attention whore who gets off on people's scared/creeped out reactions to him, is that while he has an immense experience as a swordsman (hey, let's face it - he was about 50 when the Amanto arrived, he knows the real feudal Japan), he still isn't really exceptional. He's good, yes. Compared to normal people. But unlike Takasugi, Bansai, Gintoki, Katsura, or Okita, he isn't a prodigy, he lacks that natural talent that they just have. So yeah. That must have been obvious for a very long time. A good teacher probably would have been able to tell from the start. But on the other hand, he clearly has more battlefield and duel experience than any other character. Either way, he knows it, too. All his own skill is training and experience, but he's way past his prime and can't ever hope to get better. The standards he didn't reach when he was younger and still could develop are completely out of his reach now. At his age

Difficult. :/ He doesn't give much of a shit? As long as they leave him alone, they don't bother him too much. That is, he has a slight problem with Matako. He remembers a time where it was really, really uncommon for women to fight at all, after all, and she? Is also fairly skilled, but also rude, annoying, provoking, and everything an old man doesn't like. Plus, she fights with guns, and there's that sort of inherent antipathy to gunmen that he has. It's probably also a bit paranoia about really being out-dated. But either way. Henpeita doesn't interest him at all. And Bansai... No, he's not jealous. Talking about Rika's Bansai now, since we talked a bit about him before. She said with Bansai being young, he lacks the actual battlefield experience that the others have, even though he's very skilled. Therefore, there's at least one point where he doesn't need to feel threatened by Bansai. Other than that, he respects him. After all, Bansai is polite, smart, doing his job well, etc. And he's also in a somewhat different position to

Shiroyasha, of course. Not Matako, I'm afraid. Matako is a minor annoyance compared to just how unnerving Shiroyasha is. That, and Nizou wants to defeat him really, really badly. Both to mock Takasugi who could not kill him yet (because it pats Nizou's own, inferiority-complex-plagued ego), and to clear the way for the Kiheitai so that he and Takasugi can actually go and destroy the world side by side. Mostly, however, it's because Gintoki simply drives Nizou mad. He comments on his annoying light that just won't go away several times. Gintoki is all he wants to be (a strong, innately skilled fighter who is actually worthy of fighting alongside Takasugi, unlike Nizou himself, which the latter realises), and also the antithesis to all Nizou is (power, and controlled, or rather, able to control an innate bloodthirst he has as well). That such potential is wasted in Gintoki, and that it's the right thing to hold it back, which comes through from the way Gintoki carries himself as a fighter and at the same time mocks people like Nizou, is
