2. Before the NYC fan premiere of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, bethbethbeth" went around asking "Who has your allegiance?" I couldn't really answer in context because I'm not a real HP fan but the question has always stuck in my mind. As far as I'm concerned, if you give your allegiance to a hard-ass bastard then if he wants to remain emotionally closed-off it's your job to provide the packing peanuts and not the wrecking ball. If you want group hugs, go fan Starsky & Hutch.

3. I, too wish we'd had more time to get into questions of identification (although I wanted to go carefully to avoid insulting large swathes of the congoers). There's rapefic and there's rapefic (there'd better be, considering what I'm working on)--I really don't like it when first we're invited to gloat over (and be aroused by) degradation and then feel uplifted by the subsequent Therapeutic Sex.

Don't you wish you could get file notes on everyone you met? Will talk forever about football - don't mention sports! or Pretends to know celebrities. It would save so much time and effort (grin).

Spending a decent amount of time with both you and executrix, as I did at the con, I was like the frothy-but-dumb filling between two brilliant, incisive (and tall) cookies. Your sharp mind and nearly bottomless niceness* are a joy to be around.

* Well, okay, there is that snarky bit in you, too, which I love. And the Pros squeeing. And the vids. And the...

I wish I'd had even more time to spend with you ... but at least I get to see you between cons (hopefully sometime relatively soon!). And - frothy? well, perhaps, but dumb? I don't think so! You cut through the shit in a way I seldom am able, floundering around as I do in ambiguity and seeing every side of everything and never being able to make up my mind.

Except when it comes Pros, of course - no ambiguity about my feelings there :-D

And ... thanks. You have this way of making me lose my words (well, okay, not entirely *g*); the things you say are so nice, and I always feel so undeserving - there's part of me that wants to ask you, are you absolutely sure you're talking about the right person? But the other parts of me, the parts that try not to let that insecure part govern anymore, are grateful and flattered and amazed and a bit - just a bit, mind! - speechless....

You are wonderful, and I can't wait to spend even more time with you ... vids and squeeing and talking and all the rest.

Nah, it's all true, what I said. And no, I'm not dumb. But I've told executrix I can't always understand the references in her posts, so clearly I am no intellectual. However I will happily cop to the "no bullshit" aspect of my personality.
