So, the wee and I like our Corollas. When we met, I drove a '99 and she drove an '02. About a month ago, she bought herself a shiny new '09, and I sold my old '99 and took possession of her old '02. I had vanity plates on my '99 and I wanted to put them on the '02. And the wee wanted to take the plates from the '02 and use them on her '09. ( Read more... )

Congratulations.

It could be worse -- you could be trying to change registration to DC. Apparently, the fact that you already proved who you are to a state and have a state driver's license isn't good enough in DC (although a DC or any other state's license is sufficient in any state).

So for the last 2 months I've been having to find or get replacement documents proving I was born and am who I claim to be and do have a real, genuine SS number. The most ironic effort was going to the SSA and showing them a form of ID that DC will not accept in order to obtain a form of ID that DC will accept. *headdeskthunk*

P.S. now that I have all my documentation, I'm not going to register and change my license until after Oct. 1, because then the license will be good for 8 years instead of 5 and I'll have an extra 3 years before I have to see these idiots again.

Ah, but have you changed your voter registration yet? Because I think the deadline for that is October 6, so you'd be cutting it close if you want to do motor/voter.

Yep. That was remarkably easy. Now, I'll just have to bring a bill or something with my current address on it to the poll in order to prove my residency, since I registered by mail.

Not that my vote will affect diddly-squat here in DC (the only jurisdiction I've ever seen declare who the new mayor would be after the close of the primary election. instead of waiting until after the general election), but at least I'll still feel entitled to bitch and complain about what I don't like since I'll have taken the time to participate. :-)
