There's a pretty good account of Hurricane Wilma over on BoingBoing today. It wasn't Katrina or Rita, so you probably didn't hear much about it on the news. Anyway, this excerpt from the end almost exactly puts my utter hatred for south Florida into words. I figured I should store it here in case I ever need to be reminded, which is doubtful

I haven't been down there since last Christmas, and I'm only spending a minimal amount of time there this year. My mother isn't happy about that, but she'll have to deal with it. She can visit me in Boston when ever she wants. I won't object.
