gay camp!

I just got back from my three week stint at mountain meadow, the camp for kids of LGBTQ families and LGBTQ kids. It was unbelievable. goodness, that's a lot of sending people home. how many did you start with? Did you have some fun in between the cleaning up poop and having colds and all?

we started with 62 campers. 8 got sent home throughout the 2 weeks. 5 were mine.

I did have lots of fun between all the madness. it was surreal to see children talking about gender, sexuality, class, discrimination etc... most kids dont understand half of what these kids go through. i got to lead a discussion about body image and teasing with the male teenagers. i also got to spend time with a 16yr old trans camper who had never met another transperson before coming to camp. i got to walk around and go in the pool wiht out a shirt on and not worry about my scars and i met some really inspiring people from all over the country.
