Rock My World - Chapter 7

Jonghyun was slightly nervous when he was summoned to the director’s office above the ticket booths. Sure, he was acquainted with his superior but suddenly - and considering the past few weeks - the climb up the stairs to the office area became very intimidating. He knocked twice of the door and was called inside at once. He bowed respectfully to his elder and the man gestured to the simple-looking chair in front of him. Jonghyun sat down and shifted uncomfortably under his director’s probing gaze.

“I meant to speak to you because you’d been sounding tired lately,” the middle-aged man began, not without concern in his voice, “but it seems you’re back on track.”

“I know,” Jonghyun confessed, shoulders un-tensing as he felt relief wash over him at once. “I was a bit... careless. But I’m watching my voice now.”

“I was actually going to offer you to skip a show if you thought it would do you some good to rest for a bit,” the man spoke with a small reassuring smile. “It’s a bit late, but the offer still stands. You’ve never missed a show, Jonghyun. I’m willing to let it go for once.”

“Thank you,” and he really was thankful, “but I’m fine.”

The stage director leaned back in his office chair, elbows coming up to rest on his small desk.

“Oh, good,” he said. “I don’t think Jino would have covered your part well, anyway. In fact, I think I preferred him in his old role.”

“Key’s?” Jonghyun arched an eyebrow, interested.

“Yes, don’t you think?” the man asked, trying not to smile too wide. “Besides, I liked how Key interpreted Jino’s role when he filled in for him.”

“Hmm,” Jonghyun hummed in agreement, not too sure what to say. It seemed like the older man was talking to himself, thinking out loud more than anything.

“Anyway, I’m glad to hear you’re better. Keep up the good work.”

“Thank you.”

He didn’t waste time getting to his feet, stopping on his way out to bow with a straight back again. Jonghyun was about to step out of the small room when the director called him back.

“Oh, Jonghyun?”

The boy simply stilled in the doorframe, glancing back at the middle-aged man.

“Happy birthday.”

Jonghyun forced a smile and thanked him quickly before trudging back down the stairs, letting out the breath he had been holding since he had stepped into the office.

The blond was quick to spot Key once he reached the backstage area:  the tall boy was leaning onto the doorframe of his dressing room, hip canted, crooked dark bangs falling into his left eye. Jonghyun noticed that they were getting rather long. It took him a while for his attention to fall onto the small boy Kibum was talking to: he looked young and Jonghyun recognized him as one of their back up dancers. The lead singer had only spoken to him a few times since he had joined the production.

The dancer’s eyes fell on Jonghyun who was standing nearby, deciding whether or not he should interrupt them and join their conversation.

“Hyung!” the boy called out as soon as he saw him. Key turned around and smiled that beautiful smile of his - Jonghyun had to pause in his steps to take in the breath that had left him.

“Happy birthday, hyung,” the kid said, eyes disappearing when a friendly grin broke across his face. Jonghyun couldn’t bring himself to be mad at him for calling him hyung without his approval even if he tried.

“Thanks,” he answered, but his eyes were fixed on Key and the shameless smirk on his lips.

A week ago, Jonghyun had told him that it would be his birthday soon. The boy had been sporting a huge grin ever since and the elder wasn’t sure if he should be worried or excited about it. Jonghyun was half convinced he was plotting something behind his back. Neither of them had noticed how the kid’s gaze flickered back and forth between them, a small smile stretching his lips.

Once the show was over and Jonghyun had waved goodbye to the young dancer - Taemin, Key had told him his name was - he retreated to his dressing room to shower. He was carefully rubbing his hair dry with a towel, seated in front of the mirror in just a pair of jeans when Kibum carefully opened the door to peer inside, making sure Jino was not in sight before entering. Jonghyun smiled when he saw the boy’s reflection above his shoulder in the mirror, but frowned when he noticed he was holding up what looked like stain-dyed jeans and a flimsy shirt.

“Put these on,” he said, placing the clothes in front of Jonghyun.

“Why?” the elder asked, looking up with round eyes that were ridiculously cute.

“Because it’s your birthday,” with that, Kibum winked. “Meet me outside in ten,” he added before slipping out of the room.

Jonghyun put on the clothes mechanically, mind obviously elsewhere, and was halfway through the process when he realized that these were actually his own clothes which made him think that Kibum had definitely been planning something, or else he wouldn’t have been snooping in Jonghyun’s drawers.

Key’s plan became painfully obvious some thirty minutes later when he was standing in front of what looked like a club, a grinning Kibum at his side, clutching his arm from where he had been pulling him along earlier.

“You’re turning 21 internationally, right?” the boy had asked a week ago. Of course, he should have known Kibum was planning on celebrating. Hard. Jonghyun was a bit weary of alcohol - he had always been because, considering his family’s history with the beverage, he knew his tolerance for it was close to zero.

“Why are we doing this again?” the half-blond boy pondered out loud.

“Oh shush,” the younger replied, acting annoyed but failing because that smirk of his just wouldn’t leave his lips. “You’ll be thanking me later,” he added, suave.

“I doubt that,” Jonghyun mumbled, although he wasn’t sure who he was trying to convince at this point. A part of him was afraid of proving Kibum right because to be honest, the boy looked so gorgeous that there was only one way this night could and would end.

Key’s black hair was messily falling into his eyes - which were still rimmed with black kohl and glitter from their performance earlier. He was wearing a thin, black v-neck shirt and the tightest pants Jonghyun had ever seen - forget the vinyl glossy ones he wore on stage, these were so tight Jonghyun was the one suffocating just by looking at them.

With a sigh, the elder let himself be smuggled inside, body compliant but his mind still vaguely protesting against the idea of him and Kibum getting trashed in such a strange part of the city. Once inside, Jonghyun realized that it was more like a concert hall than a club: there was a small stage upfront, a bar at the back and the rest of the space was taken up by the crowded dance floor.

Jonghyun eyed the band playing upfront with interest, taking in the steady flow of drums and bass that seemed to saturate the air in the room as Key slipped away to get them some drinks. He returned not a minute later, thrusting a tall glass into Jonghyun’s hand only to pull him to the center of the crowd. If Jonghyun didn’t know better, he would have thought the other had been there before.

“How did you find out about this place?” he asked, leaning into Key and raising his voice above the roar of the speakers, not wanting to admit that he kind of liked it but was genuinely curious.

“I did some research,” the younger answered coyly, a corner of his mouth twitching upwards and Jonghyun bit down on his lip because now that was sexy. “Cheers,” he said, eyes literally sparkling as he knocked his drink against Jonghyun’s before taking a swig.

The cocktail was sweet on his tongue and the alcohol left an acrid aftertaste that Jonghyun wasn’t all that accustomed to, but decided he enjoyed nonetheless. He vaguely wondered how amazing it was that even though Key had only known him for a few months, he had come to know him better than anyone else. His thoughts were cut short though when he felt hips roll into his and his head was suddenly spinning, a combination of alcohol, fatigue, loud music and something purely Kibum making him feel light-headed.

When his senses recovered a bit, he looked up, gaze tracing the contours of the boy’s chest, passing the teasing v-neck of his shirt, lingering on his moist, plump lips before meeting the boy’s smoky eyes. It felt like something short-circuited in Jonghyun’s brain.

Fuck it.

He downed the rest of his drink, tossing the empty cup to the floor before grabbing his ridiculously hot boyfriend’s hips to press their bodies together.

***

Even though he was used to watching Kibum dance, he had never danced with him - not like this. He had never felt the younger boy dance against him, moving his body and Jonghyun’s to the steady beat and to the distorted guitar sounds as he did now and even without alcohol coursing through his veins, the blond was sure he would have still lost his mind. Sure, they shared a stage and had dance numbers together, but fuck, this wasn’t the same. It was like some type of raunchy foreplay fraught with desire, loose with expression. They certainly weren’t new to each other’s bodies, but it wasn’t the same as Jonghyun turned the other around in his hold, the taller boy’s back pressing into his chest and his ass grinding into his crotch with every one of Kibum’s fluid movements. The loud music, the screeching of the electric guitar through the speakers, the packed dance floor, the alcohol clouding their thoughts - it all added up to the thrill of trying something new, of re-discovering each other all over again. Jonghyun let his hands wander over the boy’s hips, slide down his thighs and press into his lower stomach. At some point Kibum threw an arm back to grip the back of the elder’s neck, pulling his head to side so that he could kiss him. Jonghyun could feel the boy’s fingers tighten their hold on his hair as their tongues began moving faster and faster. He could taste the alcohol in the other’s mouth and even though they were slightly tipsy he knew he wouldn’t regret a single thing come morning. At this point, he didn’t care about proving the other right.

Jonghyun’s hands lifted the hem of Kibum’s shirt, acting with a mind of their own as he felt himself scratching the skin over the boy’s hipbones with his black nails. He felt a shiver run through Kibum’s body as the boy rolled his hips again, only harder than before. Jonghyun repeated the action and, to his delight, earned himself another body wave from Key that had his heartbeat drumming in his ears, drowning out the music. He moved to kiss the side of the boy’s long neck, biting down on the soft skin as he tried to keep up with Kibum’s dancing. The boy only moved his head to the side, letting Jonghyun have his way with him. The blond groaned as he kept sucking on the slick, tan skin, overridden with lust, senses in overdrive yet clouded by a warm and pleasant haze. He didn’t care about the people around him that kept bumping into him, he didn’t care that he was tipsy - if not drunk already, he didn’t care about the state of his sweat-drenched shirt or the tight feeling in his pants; all he cared about was Kibum Kibum Kibum.

An hour, a few more (strong) drinks and a bathroom hand job session later, the boys stumbled onto the sidewalk, still horny as ever yet unable to stop giggling at each other. They ended up taking a taxi to Jonghyun’s apartment because walking all the way was really too much of a challenge. The half-blond boy had to count his change thrice before handing it over to the rather annoyed cab driver and hurried out of the car, slamming the door shut without further ado. They made it up to the fifth floor without tripping too much and Jonghyun was having a hard time fitting his key in the lock on his door because Key himself was nipping at his neck, hot tongue darting out to lick it between giggles as his hands reached for the elder’s zipper.

His pants were undone by the time he got the door to open. He had to remind himself to shut it behind them so that Roo wouldn’t get out before reaching for Key’s shirt, lifting the fabric off his body. They toppled onto Jonghyun’s black leather couch and peeled any remaining layers of clothing off of each other. Any lingering giggles died down in Kibum’s throat once Jonghyun’s lips were sealed to his.

***

Jonghyun was woken up by a ticklish and wet feeling on his toes. He squirmed on the couch only to realize that he was still half on top of Kibum and that Roo was happily licking at his feet. She stopped and wagged her small tail when she noticed that her master was awake, licking her lips up to her button nose instead as she silently pleaded for food.

The sleepy boy carefully lifted himself off the couch, trying his best not to wake Kibum. He almost fell over when he straightened up because the room was slightly swaying and his head was pounding. He held his head in his hands and groaned a little, not particularly enjoying having a hangover which was, by the way, stupendous.

He took slow and careful steps to his bedroom, where he pulled the sheets off of his bed to bring them to the living room and drape them over a still sleeping Kibum. Jonghyun wanted to bend down and kiss his puffy, pink lips but didn’t because he felt as if he would throw up if he ducked his head. He turned toward the kitchen to feed Roo before searching through his cabinets for pills. He found some in the bathroom and swallowed two even though they were slightly outdated, forcing water down his throat. He was glad he didn’t have to perform that day because there was a thick feeling in his throat and his mouth was pasty.

He stood in front of the mirror, fingers trailing over the small red marks on his neck and chest as a small smile tugged his lips upwards. He forgot about the pain in his head for a while as his thoughts drifted back to the previous night.

Jonghyun had to admit that drunken birthday sex with Kibum had been pretty amazing - he had no idea Kibum could bend that way. If he had been sober, he would have worried about Kibum’s spine snapping, what with the way his back had been curled over the armrest, a leg thrown over the backrest while the other dangled off the edge of the couch. Jonghyun was pretty sure he had never seen anything so erotic before - the mere thought of it still made him shiver.

Despite his gruelling hangover, Jonghyun was still sure of one thing: he never wanted to spend a birthday without Kibum.

Jonghyun was already feeling better a few minutes later, so he pulled some pants on and decided to get started on lunch - eating something was definitely a good idea. Showering could wait.

He was stirring the soup he had bought earlier in the week when he heard sheets ruffling and Roo running to the living room. He turned the stove off before following his dog.

Key had a hand up to his forehead, cradling his heavy head much like Jonghyun had earlier. The sheets were pushed down, revealing the other’s chest and Jonghyun could see a purplish bruise on the side of the boy’s neck.

“You okay, babe?” the blond asked softly after hearing the other groan a bit. Kibum’s hand dropped and he looked at Jonghyun sleepily but with a small smile.

“Yeah.”

He stretched his arms out and the elder didn’t need to be told twice - he quickly slipped behind the other on the couch and pulled the blanket over them both. Kibum made to turn around and face Jonghyun but he stopped in the midst of his motion.

“Ouch,” he muttered throatily and something about it made the blond chuckle lowly even though he didn’t mean to.

“What is it?”

“I’m sore.”

“Sorry...” Jonghyun apologized, genuine. He let his hand travel down to Kibum’s waist but the younger hissed at the touch, making Roo tilt her head up in alarm.

“Sore,” the black-haired boy repeated in a whining tone.

Jonghyun lifted the covers to take a peek at the other and surely enough, there were two visible bruises on the other hips, roughly the size of the elder’s thumbs. He wrapped his arms around the younger boy’s chest instead, mumbling another apology to his ear.

“I’m really sorry.”

He felt the other’s hand find his on the couch and thread their fingers together.

“Don’t be.”

After a few mindless minutes of cuddling, Kibum slowly turned himself to face the other boy, trying his best to ignore the general discomfort in his body.

“Happy birthday,” he whispered, lips brushing against the blond’s sharp jaw.

Jonghyun tilted his head to capture Key’s lips in a slow kiss.

“Thank you,” he hummed, feeling more content than he could express with words.

They ended up falling asleep on the couch again. When Jonghyun woke up a while later, he gently rubbed Key’s back, hoping it would help soothe the younger boy and smiled to himself when he felt him relax in his embrace. Jonghyun helped him up when he said he wanted to shower and Key winced as he took a few steps, walking a bit funny. The blond wasn’t sure if he should pity him, find it funny or think it was sexy. Nonetheless, he followed the raven-haired boy to the bathroom to make sure he would be fine, stripping his pants off before stepping under the warm water behind him. He washed them both and was extra gentle with Kibum, which he seemed to appreciate given his more relaxed, almost lazy smile.

They spent the rest of the day lounging around in Jonghyun’s apartment, munching on food, talking or cuddling in front of the television. Roo was bit annoyed that they kept ignoring her though, so she took to nipping at Jonghyun’s toes to gain attention, which drew a few laughs from Key.

Key stayed over for the night again, still wincing in discomfort as he lowered himself onto Jonghyun’s mattress.

“Is it any better?” Jonghyun asked as he joined the other on the bed.

“Not really,” Kibum said as he lifted his shirt slightly to have a look at his bruises, which were more blue than purple now. “I didn’t know alcohol would turn you into an animal,” he added, trying to act serious but failing. “I mean, a puppy I can handle, but not a wild beast.”

“You should have warned me alcohol made you so flexible,” Jonghyun teased in return. Kibum humph-ed and the blond chuckled, leaning in to brush a feather-light kiss against the bruise on Key’s neck. He made his way down to the other’s hips and was placing butterfly kisses on the skin there when something occurred to him.

“I’m a wild beast?” he asked, lifting himself on his elbows above the younger.

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

“But you flattered me?”

“Aish...” Kibum huffed, rolling his eyes in denial. “Just sleep.”
