With the sun setting and the ceremony over, all that was really left was the reception. It was turning out to be a gorgeous night and a large tent was protecting from any surprise rain. There were tables and chairs scattered underneath the tent, covered in simple place settings and beautiful flower arrangements ( Read more... )

The tables and chairs looked comfy, but John was far happier standing at the bar and forgetting that the last wedding he'd attended had been his own.

And look, he was even drinking the expensive stuff. Nice night for it.

Figured John would be standing right where Chuck wanted to be. Whatever, he had been taking advantage of the open bar all night, he wasn't about to stop now. "Please tell me you aren't creeping around a wedding to score, Sheppard."

Weird how Chuck was at a wedding where he couldn't bag the maid of honor. "Never thought you'd be concerned about competition, Bass," John replied.

"Please, picking people up at a wedding is the lowest form of getting laid," Chuck said before motioning to the bartender to get him another drink. "I'm here to annoy the bride. And the open bar."

He had definitely been taking advantage of it. He should have known Robin would do the bar part right.

The bar was John's best friend, and he shot Chuck a glare for usurping his personal bartender and motioned that he, too would need another drink.

Give John a second to finish this one. There, see? "Of course you are. Because you don't have your own bar in Fandom. Though, annoying the bride is fun. I was in her class once."

"I fooled around with her sister," Chuck said. "I think that might be why she hates me, though I don't understand why. I was doing Katie a favor."

John snorted, "A favor? I didn't think cute teens were that hard up."

"Please. I'm so much more than the average fuck," Chuck said before taking a healthy swig of his drink. "Even you can't deny that."

John spared Chuck an appraising look over his glass, "I dunno, you seem pretty average to me." And admittedly hot, but that was nothing new. John always found trouble hot. This was how he'd ended up married to Nancy.

"Hardly. You may be a hundred years old, Sheppard, but I have way more experience than you," Chuck said. "And there's also the fact I'm naturally skilled. Gift from God and all that."

"Bullshit," John said, eyes rolling back in his head at his lack of trust that Chuck was all that gifted and talented. "You may get the girls to drop their panties at your name, but I don't buy it, Bass." He may have enunciated the ass part a little extra after all the drinking going on.

Chuck rolled his eyes, sometimes hating the fact that his first and last names were such easy target for rhyme and ridicule. "I think the amount of girls and guys dropping their panties for me is proof enough that I'm not bullshitting you."

"Like your new double? I think he's actually more likely to get laid than you." It was the personality, really.

"He's only been in town for like a week, you can't possibly know that," Chuck said. Even though he had to admit that Wallace did know what he was doing in bed.

"What can I say?" John asked, pausing for a nice drink. "He leaves a good impression. Maybe you could learn something there."

"I don't need my doppelganger's help to score, especially considering I already managed to get into his pants," Chuck said, draining his drink and pushing his glass out for another. Talking to John would drive him to alcoholism one of these days. "And I'd stop hanging around him if I were you. It makes you look desperate."
