Nate meets Mello's eyes; he laughs, but the laugh's harsh.

"If you'd prefer that I continue my solitude, I'd be more than happy to oblige."

"Why now? You arrogant piece of--"

he stops himself, doesn't want to ruin this, whatever it is.

"Why don't you wanna say it? Go ahead. 'Arrogant piece of shit.' It isn't like you were hiding your intent when you cut yourself off like that." All the while, he maintains a casually pleased expression, body language relaxed - even if the outside doesn't match the inside.

Hearing the words makes all the anger flow from Mello's body, until he's so exhausted.
