A Bit of Alternative Walsibeth...

If there was ever a relationship between Walsingham and Elizabeth in context of the BBC's 2005 drama, The Virgin Queen, then it would certainly be an aggressive and fiery relationship! XD There's a lot of sneakiness about Walsingham in this version of history (some of which is probably close to truth), and he makes a perfect fox to match his Queen' ( Read more... )

He's a very smexy Walsie! (And those gloves don't help! Guh... they just give one all the wrong imagery!) It's a different sexiness to Geoffy's Walsie, but sexiness nevertheless. There's a lot of friction between he and the Queen because he's a very sneaky bastard and likes to take action whilst the Queen prefers a bit of procrastination and steadiness. It's not the best production about Elizabeth I in the world, but it's certainly worth seeing for Walsie in episodes 2 and 3. ♥

I have to admit that I wasn’t very interested in watching that series when it was broadcasted 3 years ago. I kind of regret that now. I guess it was my last year of school and I was so up to my ears in work that I would shy away from anything educational. And now, by contrast I’ll rarely watch something mindless that I feel has nothing to teach me.

Anyway, nice video! The cast are younger in that version than in others, which does help if you want to create sexual tension. Kind of makes me want to look up the other cast, because if Walsingham looks like that, it kind of makes me wonder what some of the other guys look like… ; D

[Oh yeah, just did a Google image search for Ben Daniels, and you’re right! Very different without the dark hair and beard!]

The series has a very individual style - it's a proper mesh of modern and old-fashioned, with a very young cast, and a very unique score, featuring the Medieval Babes, which is absolutely fantastic. The end result isn't quite a success in my opinion - the cast are just simply too young - but it's still decent enough entertainment, and episodes 2 and 3 are well worth watching for Walsie, if nothing else.

(Hans Matheson is Essex in the final episode, who you should recognise from the Les Miserables film that Geoffrey was in!)
