Y'know, once I survived those excruciatingly-difficult-to-read chapters about the view of Paris from atop the Notre-Dame cathedral, I've been zipping through Victor Hugo's Hunchback of Notre Damelike I don't know what! I'm indebted to the notes section at times, because Hugo does make references to people, myths and places I'm not overly familiar

Do you like Les Misérables? I've been reading it for the third time and loving it again :D Go Victor Hugo!

Your post title startled me because Kyrie Eleison is my sisters name (and yes, I know what it means) hehehe. I swore I'd accidentally friended her :D

I haven't read Les Misérables yet, but it's on my "to read" list. :) If the characters and the plot are any way as near as compelling as they are in Notre Dame, then I should like it.

And I remember you telling me about your sister's name - does it mean "God have mercy", or something like that?

Yes, Les Mis is absolutely awesome. It's just hard to read through, because he's very wordy. Once you get to it though, there's Plot-plot-plot-plot then some boring details that I should probably pay attention to, and more plot-plot-plot-plot-plot.

Yeah it's a very good read once you figure out how to read it and comprehend a lot of the words (it helps to figure out which words are important) because Hugo tends to be a bit... wordy :D

Yeah God have Mercy.. kinda nasty name for a child...

Phoebus pretty much rapes Esmerelda, doesn't he? I have no reason to really read it, because my french teacher pretty much told me everything. :(

I wouldn't use the word "rape" - Phoebus just deceives Esmeralda into thinking that he loves her as much as she loves him, and he would have slept with her were it not for Claude Frollo's untimely intervention. Phoebus is one of those ladies' men who's willing to deceive any pretty girl who believes themselves to be in love with him. :) He's a swine.

And you still should read Hunchback at some point, even if you know what happens. Some of the chapters are marvellously written.
