I've been reworking a story that I wrote in college, The Aggerrejerant. It's alot more difficult to rework it than I thought. It took me ages to write in the first place. I'm not sure what it was about to begin with, I think I was hoping that things would come as I wrote, but it was forced the whole way. I've had a few moments where I can fill out ( Read more... )

Music has a huge effect on my writing, as well. Reading back I can usually hazard a guess at what I was listening to at the time I wrote a piece.

that's really interesting; i can't say that it is so profound for me, just that i can see distinct shifts in scope and feeling. what do you listen to when you write? i mean, are there favourite genres?

I don't have favourite writing genres, as such. I tend to go through phases with music in general. But I can read back and from the feel of a piece think 'I may very well have been listening to Placebo when I wrote that'. Or find something in a piece of writing that almost goes hand in hand with a song and know that I was listening to it.
I can't explain very well. For a writer, I think that's not good!

i use pandora instead. 40 free hours a month. $1 a month if you want more than that.

variety is pretty good.

thank you for the recommendation! but, i've just checked it and unfortunately it's not available in canada :( i hate the licensing or copyright problems, it bans most things from canada. itunes blows for that too.
