Oh the drama!

I went to Netarts this weekend with a friend, and spent an inordinate amount of time lying on the pullout couch of the RV watching Design Star and Project Runway, and knitting.
I actually finished something!I'm going through cable withdrawal! Someone want to tape the finale of Design Star for me? ;_ ( Read more... )

haha, if you still want it, I'd be happy to knit it. there is just the postage for the 3 lb finished scarf to mail it to you :P they are heavy

Good work on the hat! Eventually I need to try some two color shit myself, but.. well.. lace wins out every time.. plus two hands == EEK.

I'd approach the scarf with caution, though.. as I've never seen a sucessful piece of lace done in worsted weight. Generally the lace I see (and admire) is laceweight, sock weight, fingering, dk, or sport at most.. my gut feeling is that it would take some damned big needles for the pattern to show up correctly. Of course, I've never tried it so I could be wrong. Keep me updated!

i knit the first repeat today, and it seems like the pattern is showing up ok. if you look on the pattern page, the green scarf is knit out of a thin worsted, which has the same gauge as the yarn i'm using. if it looks like it's going to be smooshed, i'll swap up tp US 10's.

dude, two color knitting is so much easier than reading lace charts...i keep getting lost, and it's harder for me to know when i've fucked up. that and dropped stitches in lace are a bitch to fix.

i met red_antoid today and knit a bit! apparently i still can't purl continental style.

Ahh.. I didn't recheck the pattern, but I was under the impression that one was knit in laceweight and one in sport. Weight doesn't matter at all as long as you like the way it turns out, though! If it were me I'd do it in sock weight with #6s probably.. or maybe even #4s, depending on how the denseness worked out. ^_^

And it's best to use PDFs or jpegs and line up the row you're working on with the top of your window, I've found. That makes the pattern a little easier to follow when you first start out.

I miss Spooner! Tell him I said hi and sent a hug if you see him again!

the pattern seems to be showing up fine. I'm only 4 repeats in, and it is going so so slow. ;_; i'm gonna be 80 before this gets long enough.

I hand copied the chart onto some graph paper, simplified some of the markings, and am working off of that. still..makes my eyes spin to follow it sometimes.

maybe i should go to bed...
