i hear you on the major-switching. asian studies has really never done the two of us any favors, you know? :/ it's totally battered-wife syndrome. [although i guess it did get me a job over here, so i suppose maybe i'm not one to talk? ah well...]
anyway, i think asia-centered geography could be really neat!! you could help chart the location of hot springs over here or something. i'm sure they've already done that but maybe you could find SOME SECRET PATTERN and get a hueg grant or something :O who knows! i think one nice thing about asian studies is the interdisciplinary aspect - there is really no field that can't somehow be fit into it. you'll figure it out somehow :)

I was actually thinking about my area of focus being more along the lines of earthquakes and volcanism. Japan has lots of volcanos, 50 of which are active. I want to see them aaaalll. Fuji is one of the most perfectly shaped composite volcanoes, actually. ♥
But I'm still unsure if I should go through with it or not. I just don't want to be in college for the next few years. Even still, they say if you find a job you love you'll never have to work again. It's just a shame I discovered it so late. D:
