Now this is what's fundamental about Uther. Uther Pendragon hated magic from long before---but now he utterly despises it because it killed his wife. For all his faults this is a man who would die for his son and adored (loved) his wife madly. I sort of didn't like the Morgaus thing with Arthur's mum---I felt the actress didn't deliver her own feelings for Uther properly. I always felt that Arthur's mum would never have hated or disliked Uther for what he did in the end---especially post her death when I always felt full knowledge was attained. However though, that wasn't really displayed in the episode. In any event, what was done well was Uther---his love for his wife was great and I do believe he was fooled. The magic was relentless in the past and was used mainly for evil than good. I think only Guinevere's (other than Gauis) father would be able to really talk about what was going on before the Pendragon name came through. And despite his madness now towards magic, it's entirely built out of fear for those who want to ( ... )

I am nodding my head like mad at your comment. I really love Uther, his faults make him so much more real in my eyes and quite frankly only serve to make me love him more. I know that some of his actions where just wrong and I don’t condone certain aspects of his behaviour in any means but like you said he was absolutely 100% was madly in love with his wife and everything he has done comes out of fear for his son and kingdom etc. He doesn’t want it to fall. I also believe that grief had a lot to do with it as well. Like Uther said “she was my heart and soul”, I truly believe that really how it was and when he lost her, everything inside of him was just ripped apart leaving anger, hurt, pain, sadness, grief ( ... )

Agreed. I can't disagree with anything you said and I'm so glad I have a fellow Uther lover and one who understands the man. I've seen way too many haters. Most of them tend to be Morgana devotees but that's besides the point.
