I saw Nichelle Nichols at Supernova over here last year and had her sign a picture for Dad of Dragons' 60th. She wrote on it: Happy 60th, Dad of Dragons. Live longer and prosper.
She told us the story of how she quit Star Trek after year one to pursue her musical theater career, but hours after doing so met Martin Luther King. He politely enquired as to what the fuck she thought she was doing, abandoning the only role in television in which a black, female character held a position of intelligence and authority. So then she was like: Crap. I have to go and ask Gene for my job back because when Martin Luther King tells you to go get your job back? You motherfucking go get your job back.
You know if I get time I might swing by the art building on campus and use the computer lab. If not, I'm out of town till the 5th so someone else might get on it before then. But if not, Pulp Fiction references are too fun to deny.
