Technically she never left. She got into the cellar and crawled waaaaay the fuck up under the house by the water heater, probably for warmth. ME TOO! There are bobcats and mountain lions out here. So it's a damn good thing she never got farther than the cellar. Thank dog she's too bloody dumb for that. *sighs in relief*

Oh, does that sound familiar. Before Geo and I got married, he lived in a big, old house with a scary, scary root cellar (seriously, I should send a description to some of my fave authors and see if they can't work it into a story), and one day, one of Geo's cats disappeared.

For days.

Geo was so upset. He had no idea where the cat had gone and was trying to resign himself to the fact that the cat was just . . . gone.

Then one day he heard some crying in the walls. Figured out it was the missing cat. Got the cat to follow his voice through the walls to where Geo found a hole into the walls in the root cellar.

The cat has never been quite right since, we don't think. If he were a person, he'd be Richard Lewis.
