Finally got off my ass and took some photos

Went to the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival in Ghent this weekend. I'd never been before and it was neat. They basically block off a section of a road in Ghent and artists can buy booth space and set up their wares. There were booths with photographs, oil paintings, acrylic paintings, pastels, pottery, hand-turned wooden bowls, and hand-made jewelry ( Read more... )

Beautiful! I love pictures like that. A couple of years ago I had my Dad (who does all my digital photography/photoshop stuff) scan in some old family photos from when I was a kid and do that to them (one is in my icon). I hung them in two long frames that each hold...seven?...portrait oriented 4"x6" pictures and are made to look like film strip.

Pretty cool stuff :) I think my very favorite is the second hydrant picture. I love the wavy lines in the pavement and the random cobblestone thingies.

Yeah, for some reason, there are quite a few street corners with interesting ground treatments. Like cobblestones or this weird knobby pattern for which I've not yet found an explanation.

They're neat, that's quite a stylish effect. The fire hydrants look like little firemen.

They do kind of look like firemen, don't they? Red helmets and yellow jackets. I wonder if whoever decided they should be that color had that same thing in mind.
