Any camera recommendations? I'm not as serious as either of you two, so I don't need to be a super fancy camera, just a nice one (digital ( Read more... )

I'm not an expert, but my husband who used to work at the electronics department at Sears did a lot of research before we bought our camera (though it was about at least 2 years ago now). In any case, we've used the Sony Cybershot series of cameras for the past 2 digital cameras we've owned. It's far from being professional, but we've been pleased with them. You've seen my pictures, and I don't play around with them much on the computer (I don't even use Photoshop). We have one that looks like the first one on this page, except it's a 5 megapixel (but man that 7 megapixel one is as cheap as our first 1 megapixel camera was 6 years ago!). If you need more details, I can ask Josh to help.

The stupid weather works against us. We set up the pen last night with apples, bananas, pellets, and some bunny droppings, but with the strong wind, cold, and rain, he didn't come out. And it's supposed to be cold for a few more days. I keep praying we'll find him and catch him. It so breaks my heart to think he's all alone in this weather.

I'm hoping soon after we move to Wisconsin (well, after we catch up financially) we can get a really nice camera so I can develop my skills a little bit. I really want to take pictures of the wildlife now, but I can't do that with the Sony camera.

catwithclaws recced the Canon Powershot 520 to me, and I love it so far! I think that's what she has as well.

hehe. I'll need to put a sticker on mine or something when we travel, or else we might end up switching cameras by accident!

Canon A520 is what I have! the A510 is also nearly as good and a bit cheaper. As in, low $100s. definitely worth it :) get a set of rechargable batteries and you are SET.

or foot the $9 for lithium batteries and never have to think about batteries again. I seriously haven't changed batteries through all of Mardi Gras and Jazzfest.

Cannons are awesome!

Kodak is very good with outdoors, but when you go indoors/action/night, it's definitely not anything great.

And I do highly reccommend rechargable batteries. God sends!
