The plot reminds me of Edward Abbey's 'A Fools Progress.' It'll make for an interesting comparison.

Not at all. It is a good book, though. The protag starts-off as textbook, dick head, narcissistic macho male and evolves--some--as things progress.

I'll re-read 'Little Women,' if it'll make you feel better.

You should read "A Long Fatal Love Chase" and then imagine what a great movie it would be and then write the screenplay and be rich beyond measure!
