Tories want to give council tenants money to buy in the private sector - how, exactly, do they get from "social housing as a transitory stage" to "transforming council estates so that people have a sense of local pride and ownership"? Have you any interesting bike rides planned? I think I need to cycle a long way to make up for a month of eating too much food in France :-)

*Possibly* DIY 200 this month (if so it'll be midweek & starting from home pretty early). The Anfractuous 200 at the start of October.

(very very vaguely considering another crack at a 600 at the end of Sept...)

Turns out I am busy every weekend until mid October, with the possible exception of the 15-16th. Pity: The Anfractious looks good! I'm not sure I should try a 600 myself until I have 1) done more shorter ones, and 2) got another bike...

I am generally up for midweek stuff though, in my new status as a layabout :-)

That plan is stupid in so many ways. For one thing it will just cause house prices to rise until buying is again out of reach of council tenants, so they don't benefit and the rest of us lose out.

I have read that over a few times and I *still* don't get what their point is!

I think the point is that it sounds like a good idea if you're stupid and not paying attention, which is enough voters to form a majority.

Ah, private tenants f'd again.

"transforming council estates so that people have a sense of local pride and ownership"

Many local gangs seem already to possess more than their fair share of local pride and ownership.
