I missed watching the whole Oscars live for the first time in prolly fifteen years b/c of a stupid rehearsal, so I'm watching it Tivo'd right now.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about both fashion and film, as you are as big a movie freak as I am. Spill it.

(re: film) I'm sure you've rehashed the Oscars with everybody enough by now, so I'll keep this brief. What are your thoughts on the much-discussed Best Picture upset? Brokeback and Crash are the only two picture nominees I've seen, and between the two, my vote goes to Brokeback even though I enjoyed watching them both. Crash was far too much like a 2-hour public service announcement for my liking, though the storylines did come together nicely. So, best original screenplay? Sure. Best picture? No. Besides, I like me my character development, and you just don't get that (to the same extent) when you have a large ensemble cast, try though you might. I don't know.

(re: fashion) In other news, I might maybe love Keira Knightley.

And in other, other news, have you heard that the celebrities who received Oscar giftbags are going to have to pay about $30,000 of taxes for them? That kind of makes me happy.

Totally take the time to see Phantom. I saw it when I was 12 and again a year and a half ago. It's not so stunning effects wise when you get older but it's just one of those shows that holds a space in my heart. The music is so beautiful!
