FIC: Fortunate Errors 1/1 *DOCTOR WHO*

Aug 09, 2010 03:13

This was my entry for Challenge 1 at whoverse_las. The prompt was miscommunication. I've fixed some of the grammer/spelling errors that were in the entry that was submitted. Additionally when I get the chance, this will be expanded into a somewhat longer story.

I'd love to see this expanded into a longer story, particularly turning the first part into an extended Donna-being-awesome adventure, complete with dialogue with the OCs (and more on that intriguing detail about her father teaching her how to shoot.)

Yes, I can definitely see the first part expanded into at least two or so parts as Donna believes the Doctor is dead (what with the loss of translation from the TARDIS and all), and then making the decision to use the gun the tribal leader gives her. Not sure about expanding the bit about her father teaching her to shoot in this story (it would depend on how the flow of the revised story went), but perhaps ficlet in the future that could easily fit into this ficverse. I kind of based it on how Donna and her father interact in the Partners in Crime deleted scene that was filmed while the actor playing Geoff Noble was still alive.

Thanks for reading!

It's part of the S4 DVD set. It's basically the scene with Wilf and Donna on the hill from Partners in Crime, but with Donna's father instead of Bernard Cribbins' Wilf. The actor eventually became too ill to continue with the show and died shortly thereafter. In the original scene you can definitely get the sense of Geoff Noble as a bit more of a military mind than Wilf is in the show.

Wow, this is a really cool and different story idea, I like how you use the translation problem into a plot point, perfect for a miscommunication prompt.
