It's that time of year again! My 2011 books read!

Dec 31, 2011 22:19

Happy Holidays everyone!

I've read over 100 books this year! Many are romances, but I'm proud of the fact I did it! Take a look and check off the books you've read too! The asterisks mean it was an audiobook.

Not a lot of overlap on titles, but I know I've read a lot of the same authors (Linda Howard, Diana Gabaldon, George RR Martin). For the Gabaldon, I haven't gotten around to The Scottish Prisoner. For Martin, I think I've read only the first two books of that series; I've read a bunch of his earlier things, though.

Some of the authors I'm not familiar with, though. Do you go for the same sorts of romances (location, setup, era, whatever), or do you go for a variety?

In romances, I primarily stick with historical, mostly in England. I love Georgian and Regency the best. I also read a lot of Scottish Highlander romances (or used to) I'm a big Gabaldon fan. ;) Scottish Prisoner was great! Just discovering some new contemporary authors, so I may venture more into that dept. this year.

I've also gotten more into historical mysteries this year, new to me authors are Kate Ross (she is deceased unfortunately) and C. S. Harris.

I've only gotten through the first two Martin books and those are on audio.

Happy new year!

It's so nice to see that old familiar fave of Elizabeth! LOL

Yes, I got into the Game of Thrones series and read it, one chapter ahead of the TV series. I listened to them on audio, I liked it, but I wasn't bowled overy by it, I'm not a big fantasy reader.

Happy New Year!

I've read the first four of Diana Gabaldon's series with Jamie. I think a young Gerry Butler would make an excellent Jamie.

The only other author I've read on your poll is Sherrilyn Kenyon and I'm an avid fan of hers. I lean more toward the paranormal than the historical.

Happy New Year and enjoy the coming year's worth of reading!

I've hardly read any by Sherrilyn Kenyon, I can't say I'm bowled over by her. I prefer Kresley Cole's books, you should try them. Her Immortals After Series and If You Dare series are very good!

Happy New Year!

Oh I missed one when I was going through - add another to Game of Thrones.

And I see a couple on the list I plan on reading soon - such as the Tina Fey one and some Eloisa James that I have but haven't read yet.

Noted, you can go back and add to the poll if you want.

Tina Fey's book was hilarious! I really didn't know much about her, but now I'm a big fan of 30 Rock, I'd never seen it before I read the book. I listened to it on audio, which she narrates and it was very good, one of my favorites of the year.

Eloisa James is hit or miss for me, A Kiss at Midnight was atrocious on audio, I'm surprised I finished it, if it had been in print I would have chucked it. I loved This Duchess of Mine, best in that series.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you too!

I've so many resolutions, but most importantly I need to get my knee fixed (it's been very, very bad over the past few days).

Hope all is well and you have a great 2012! Glad we got to catch up recently!

I went to the doctor and having an MRI tomorrow. He thinks it's a locked knee and a torn miniscus - not good. Sounds like surgery is likely, but I won't know until the follow up. At least I've now seen a knee specialist.
