Due to some major upheaval, I'm not going to be online for a while. It's nothing to worry about, just many big (positive) changes we're trying to accomplish all at once and it's taking all of my diminished capacity ( Read more... )

If giving up crutches = giving up sugar, do you still want Kool-Aid?

I always use Splenda for Koolaid so Koolaid=Good! It helps me give up everything else (although I'm down to one can of coke -- two on bad days -- and that will be the hardest yet to give up! I think iced tea is the best option for still getting a wee bit of caff. But I'm not going to try giving up Coke until I've sorted out the rest of the sugars...I'm an addict!)

Trying to make major life changes for health is pretty horrific, but one thing that is soo obviously about you is that you have a very strong will. If you're turning it in a direction towards health activities, I am 100% sure you will accomplish what you set out to do.

The thoughts, prayers, and hope for you are there.

I wish I could agree but these are changes that I have been trying to make for over a year and they just dont stick. There are a lot of obstacles that I haven't figured out how to overcome yet, I'm just trying a new path in the hopes of skirting around them.

It's one of those things where if I were rich it could be done in minutes, but the do-it-yourself methods are very challenging.

So when you rule the world, please send me a personal nutritionist, allergy counselor and shopper/chef. :) I'll let them figure out what I can and cannot/should and should not eat and how to prepare it!! :)

Isn't it so much easier when someone just tells you what to eat? Half of the problem for me is the decision-process/mystery. If I don't have to think or try to figure it out, someone just tells me, "eat this, this, and this today," then I can make it through.

I'll tell you what, though. when I rule the world, I'll just give you a few million bucks and you can work out whatever program you want. Or I'll pay some hunk to cook for you and feed you. While wearing chaps. Him all covered in oil.

Yeah.

Every time I see a meal plan I'm all "But I don't LIKE that!" So I want someone to make a complex matrix of my allergies, intolerances, nutritonal needs AND tastes. I think they'll need 2-3 supercomputers to figure it all out.

I don't like curry so there goes every diet/meal plan ever made in this country!

BTW, I asked the endocrinologist the other day about the possibility of adrenal fatigue, and she started going on about Addison's and that I'd be *losing* weight if I had it, and I didn't push for a cortisol test, meh :-( The clinic seems to be so focused on diabetes, that they only want to pursue that in their patients. Had another horrible blood sugar drop with shakes today too.

The NHS does not understand adrenal fatigue. Even if they gave you a test (which must be saliva over a period of 24 hours to be conclusive, although a 24 hr urine is indicative) they still wouldn't do anything about the results ( ... )
