Yeah, I thought that quote was from Dr. Who. It just sounded like that kind of quote.
But I guess it's more of a paraphrasing of the quote you've got in the "words to live by", right? (It's a good quote. Heck, I probably would've tried to use it myself to sum up this post, if I had seen that episode. Our local PBS station isn't on season 5 yet.)
Actually, now that I think of it, I'm reminded of something the Doctor (the 4th IIRC) said once when he was given an opportunity to erase the Daleks from history. Basically, they were evil, but that brought out so much good in others, so it's all okay, or something like that.
I think there was somewhere else I was going with this but it's past 4 in the morning right now and I forgot it. I tried to remember something the 6th Doctor said and got distracted by the colors!
That's kind of sad, but very touching and very right, I suppose. And we can't get rid of coulda shoulda wouldas, at least I know I can't (says the person who has a project about parallel worlds, which is basically one big coulda shoulda woulda).
I need to watch more Dr. Who. I barely have time for it right now. :/
