I just got my W2s in the mail yesterday, so that's my excuse for not having my taxes filed yet. Unfortunately that leaves me with no good excuse to not get'm done this weekend, aside from just plain not wanting to waste my perfectly wonderful weekend doing taxes. Bleh.
Question: How do you fill out your forms? Do you just go straight to the forms themselves or do you use some type of program to help you make sure you're claiming everything and putting the right numbers in the right boxes?
What I do is go to the IRS website and find a good site to use. If you make under 65,000$, you can file your federal taxes for free. Most of the sites also have state taxes available for a small fee to have them e-filed. For mine, it was 13.95$. The site will walk you through everything. Tax forms scare me. This is easy. At the end, it gives you the forms to print out and/or save for future reference. And I really don't have much to claim, the only thing I had was that I paid over 1000$ on interest for my student loans, so I got some more money back from that. Woo hoo.
