Same! Actually, first I wanted to be an obstetrician, because I was under the impression they got to play with the babies. My mom told me I'd probably want to shoot for pediatrician instead. Not sure though, I think I'm still more swayed towards neonatal for my NP specialty. Peds was good, though. I had the chance to go to the NICU and the SICU/Burn Unit (not too much going on there on my day, though; but on one of our last days, there was a patient who had burned his penis while trying to blow out the menorah).
My LJing has been so patchy! I'm hoping I can resume for a couple weeks, anyway. Then I might start counting down to the end of May, when I graduate (and either get a real job or keeping taking the master's courses; or both, idk).
LMAO. LMAO. OMG, I JUST DIED. I don't even know how that happens. But LOLZ.
IKR? If he was my patient, I'd have had an extremely difficult time not laughing upon hearing that story. The menorah as a source is funny enough, but then the whole, "blowing it out" thing just sort of added to it for me. Poor kid, though. He should be fine, but he'll never live that down.
Very scary. I do not feel prepared. These last several months better be really, really enlightening.
Well, that's good news! My OB instructor got the swine towards the end of our rotation. Then she developed bronchitis, then pneumonia... sounded awful. Knocked her out of commission for 3-4 weeks! I think I'm due for a cold. I've had that annoying hint of one (the sore throat, swollen glands) that hasn't gone full blown. Now's a good time for it, while I've got a break.
