I've gone back and forth over how I feel about the GoF film. Seriously. Because I have a 9 year old boy I have had to watch it more than once. And after 2 or 3rd viewings it isn't as bad for me, but I still feel that the film is a bit rushed through the schoolyear and the events. Especially the maze at the end. And all of the library time spent with Hermione and Harry [with Viktor watching] while he and Ron are not talking.

But I get that they had to leave things out and what not because there is just so much that happens 4th year. I just wish they had made smarter choices.

As far as Voldemort is concerned - I thought he looked as he was described in the book. But I didn't find they made that last confrontation scary enough.

I still cry however every time poor Harry is clinging to Cedric's body and doesn't want to leave him and then Cedric's dad howls. OUCH.

Of all the films I think the best was PoA, but I've enjoyed them all. And believe me I've watched them ALL this week because Alex has had an inkling too!

That was only my second view of the movie - weird, considering I usually watch HP at least twice in the movies alone - but overall, my general impression didn't change: I still couldn't stand Hermione with her angry and loud attitude, for example. Same with the absolute lack of continuity and flow between the scenes. But now I managed to note a little more details. And those are always the coolest, IMHO, even when their bad. Or specially when their bad, depending on your view of things. ;)

And I agree PoA is still the best movie, just like it is the best book, IMHO. Too bad they're completely different things (as in Harry Potter, meet "Y Tu Mamá También". Or was it "? I forgot). Anyway.

Well since I just watched all four films this week I can say that Hermione has always been loud and sharp. HOWEVER, she was moreso in GoF and I still don't know why.

GoF is actually still my favorite of the novels. So I find it interesting that PoA would be my favorite of the books. But a lot of that has to do with "flow" in the film. And GoF really did jump around too much and not flow as easily throughout the entire year. I haven't been able to shake that feeling since the first time I watched it.

PoA is fairly flawless. Although I STILL wished they had spent a wee bit more time with the Marauder's Map and explanations as to who the creators were etc. I mean Harry finds out..right? In the novel?

"HOWEVER, she was moreso in GoF and I still don't know why."

I think it's a matter of Directors. Cuarón is a wonderful, amazing one, and the guy that directed GoF is... well, who is he, anyway? Well, my $0.2. ;)

And the only let down of PoA for me is the lack of Marauders back story. I do think that that's one of the factors that makes me love the book so much, and make it my favorite, so I was a bit disappointed for the lack of young James, Sirius, Remus and Peter. But oh well. We can't really expect the movies to beat the books, I suppose.

Yay indeed! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though. Better safe than sorry. Again. ;)
