There's nothing wrong with being a drifter; I was a drifter myself ;P .. Hahahaha. As long as you have a few friends who you can really call your own, you're set, y'know? :D

I didn't have a 'group' in school either. :/ It really hit me around holidays and birthdays. It can be disheartening sometimes because you get a long with everyone, but you still have to be a part of them to get the 'perks.' There is, however, that person that is part of the group that tries to make sure you're included, but for me, it always felt like I was intruding. Either way, after a while, you learn how to work both groups and how to handle being alone and independent. I believe that is a better place to be.
Sounds like you're pulling the right things out of your hell-hole days, I'm proud of you <3
