[That...sounds like something someone says when they want to leave. Not that Ukitake would stop her if she ever wanted to, but he's still a little surprised.]

A-Ah, of course, Kuchiki-san.

[She doesn't mean for it to, but that's what happens when the politeness they've ground into her kicks in.]

I know there isn't much to spare, in a place like this, so it... I really am grateful.

We do what we can for those we care about. It's the same back home.

Of course...

[She also remembers what it was like before she stepped foot inside the hallowed walls of Seireitei, what that 'home' was like.]

In that vein, if there is anything all at I can do to contribute more, you two only have to ask. Even if that means... leaving.

Of course...

[But that doesn't mean she won't beat herself up and feel bad over it! Ho no.]

But I couldn't do anything, not even when you tried to get me to remember, I couldn't...

[A year ago, she'd have laughed and said it was way too early to worry about winter. Now, and especially after last winter, she listens.]

Can I do something to help?

Hmm, well, I believe I and my household will be alright, especially if I am able to keep preparing at this rate...

You know how to preserve food for long periods at all? I can freeze it, but sometimes that's not as desirable.

[She knows this one!]

You can dry fruits and vegetables!

Oh yes, dried fruits... that makes sense! Vegetables... would they be as good as fruits are after being dried? Of course things that are dry to begin with, like rice, should be alright already.

And then I've heard you can smoke meats but I'm not quite... sure how to do that.

Now that the event has ended, I am doing fine, Unohana-taichou.

In that case, may I ask you to make sure that Juushirou-san ... I mean, Ukitake-taichou has enough stocked up for the winter, and help him out if he doesn't?

Of course, I would be remiss in my duties as a subordinate if I did not make sure my captain was well-supplied.

Besides, he has been so generous in allowing me to stay here, it's really the least I can do.

[She noticed that slip there~ But she will say absolutely nothing of it, like a good girl.]
