Some good news for a change...

I got a call this afternoon from one of the places I'm applying to to set up an interview. So I have to go to Tennessee to talk to them. I knew this was coming, but I was actually hoping it would be a bit later. As it stands, next week I head to Interfuse, which runs Thursday through Sunday. Sunday I come home, unload the car, reload the car ( Read more... )

What are you applying for? Teaching?

Yeah, teaching. The place I've now heard back from directly is a community college (though fairly large, with a couple of satellite campuses). The other place is a 4-year university, and while I haven't heard back from them since applying, they've been contacting my references.

The funny thing about that place is that I think they wrote the job posting specifically for me. I traded e-mails with the chair of the bio department, he told me about the positions they had open, I expressed extreme interest in one, and my misgivings about my qualification for the other. A week and a half later when the official job posting went up (and he e-mailed it to me specifically), it specifically addressed my concerns, and had exactly the support listed that I'd need to be able to pull it off well.

So I won't be able to come to interfuse :-(
But my friend Annie is going and she doesn't have anyone to go with her so she wanted to know if she could hang out with you. I don't know if you remember, but she's a shorter redhead who walked around a bit with us last time. She said she was looking forward to more grog ;-)

I probably won't recognize her on sight, but as long as she remembers what I look like (or if not, I'm going to be doing "Sex 101: The Sex Education You Should Have Gotten In School" on the stage Friday at about noon, so I'll be easily identifiable then) and isn't too shy to come get my attention, I got no problem with hanging out and showing her a good time. >:)

No grog, though. I quit drinking about a year and a half ago, and last year's grog was really just me trying to burn up my leftover stock. I made it and brought it to distribute, but I wasn't drinking it myself. I can give you/her the recipe, though, so you can make your own and bring it.

Oooh, sweet. I'll let her know you're teaching the class. I don't know when she's getting there, but I'm pretty sure I have a picture of you somewhere from last year, so I'll tell her she needs to hunt you down ;-)

You should definitely send me the grog recipe! Me and my SO's would love you forever ;-)
