I just had to say something...

...something I can't say in Multiply because I went ahead and added my office-mate (who, btw, is the topic of this post). Good thing there's LJ.

Anyway, so yesterday, having nothing better to do and since we're stuck together for the rest of our stay in this company, my office-mate and I started talking about books. She isn't much of a reader which ( Read more... )

I've tried reading the Twilight book. Don't worry; you're not missing out on anything >___>

And even though I also find it weird, there are people who don't really read that much. But still, it's still weird to me.

my siblings are one of those who don't really read that much--actually they rather not read at all. I only had my brother read a Pratchett books only because I told him it has lots of pictures. >.

My sisters used to hate reading too. They only ever got into it after they read Harry Potter.

...and that's one reason why we need to thank Rowling. She pulled most non-readers to the literature world.

I don't think Gaiman is as mainstream as Rowling or Meyer but, yes, he's kind of popular nowadays. But I always thought Pratchett was more well-known than Neil (uy close kami).

Ganyan talaga kapag hindi exposed sa books ang kausap mo. Imagine nung tumitingin kami nila Ryne ng libro sa FB dati. He was like "UY! SI [AUTHOR WHO I FORGOT THE NAME]!" and I was like, "WAW, ANG GANDA NG COVER!"

alam ko sikat nga ngayon si Neil Gaiman lalo na after the Beowulf. or probably nga kasi surrounded lang ako ng mga tao who knows and cares about him.

to tell the truth, sa ganda lang din ako ng cover usually napapabili ng libro. hahaha

uu nga slightly at a disadvantage sya without reading much. pero may other forms of media naman like, err, tv(?!) ok lang yun since you make ads and ads base itself from the current trends which you can mostly get from tv nga...(???)

pero twilight...uguu, di na ko na-surprise. most people who have twilight as their first exposure to reading don't know anything else. XDD

well.. madali nga kumuha ng idea from tv pero pano pag magiisip ng something "original" like a tag-line? Oh well, malay mo maimpluwensyahan ko din sya to read more books (other than Twilight kasi ang sad pag yun ang batayan mo for everything else). >.<

Random: gusto ko yung avvy mo. >.

Well, kung titingnan mo technically, Gaiman isn't mainstream. He's just popular... since marami siyang kayang gawin... like scripts etc. Kaya kahit mahilig ka lang sa films, or comics, or books may io-offer siya sa iyo.

On another note... you don't need to read a book to know that it sucks. And I'm sure makikita mo na hindi mo gusto ang libro kahit na binrowse mo lang siya. (dahil hindi ko rin gusto and Twilight and I never gave it a chance) Kaya nga may synopsis sa likod eh... XD

I guess d nga sya mainstream. But I thought he's popular enough that people who are not really readers at least have an idea who he is. Sad...

Iniisip ko, sa synopsis ng Twilight, probably marami ngang ma-lu-lure into reading it. Para sya yung tig-20 na pocket books (by the way, my office mate said she loves reading those). Ang iniisip ko na panget sa Twilight ay baka ung mismong pagkasulat nya. >.
