Driving on the highway on the way home from volunteering at BINGO for Dino's band, I saw a child sized body thrown from a mini van, get hit by a car, and go tumbling along the side of the berm, losing shoes.
Still, my faith in humanity was actually boosted. Several of us pulled over other than the poor guy who hit the thing. We all ran to assist, and after, made certain the guy who hit it was going to be okay before we returned to our cars and went on.
My fright and unhappiness was nothing on the terror and relief that poor man felt.
Well, it looked like a child! Of course you're going to get people who stop for something like that!
And you know? I don't remember *deciding* to pull over; I just did. I was out and running toward the "victim" within moments. It was during my run that I thought of 9-1-1.
Jesus fucking Christ. I'm so sorry. Even when it's "not really" the worst... it WAS the worst until you knew differently. That kind of shit takes years off your life.
My heart beat so hard, it hurt my ribcage. I still feel really bad for the guy who hit the mannikin; it was the worst for him. His reaction of relief looked like grief.

I don't suppose anybody got the license of whoever tossed out the mannequin?

And people are also brave and honorable, as witnessed by the reactions of the other drivers (including you).
I'm so glad it was nothing worse than it was, and that you're okay. <3
