Something not many people know about getting married in Canada? You can't ever get divorced (not that I'm saying they will...I'm saying...not many people know this. Neither did I.)

You can get married...anyone can get married. But you have to get divorced in your own country...you can't do it in Canada unless you're a legal resident. (THey never tell you this.) You can't get a divorce in the US unless you live in the .02% of states who actually recognize same-sex marriages.

There was a court case in some state (?Texas?) where a same-sex couple who had gotten a Vermont Civil Union some years ago filed for divorce. The divorce was heard in court.

It's worth a shot.
