Bogo went to his first movie today, at 13 days old. He saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1). Not bad for less than 2 weeks, you know? He slept through most of it, grunted a couple of times, cried for about 15 seconds, nursed, and had a bottle. Good times. I dropped popcorn on his head a few times (whoops) and he got startled by some of ( Read more... )

Ugh. I remember how hard all of the nursing stuff was for you, too. I wish she would get the hint that you are a well-informed mama and not making your choice to supplement lightly. I wish women could *really* support other women without crossing that line. Extra guilt is the last thing a mother needs.

I hate nurses/people like that. I mean WTF is up with them? They obviously must of never had breast feeding issues. I once found a lactation nurse that DID have breast feeding issues and supported the supplementing and wasn't all crazy. Just ignore them, feed your baby. They made me feel so horrible after I had Devin that with Maia I completely avoided/ignored them and started with formula immediately and you know what? I felt WAY better about myself, the baby, and much more sane. The nursing freaks piss me off to no end, if you couldn't tell, they should take a moment to step in someone else's shoes.

Recently a friend had a baby and while at the hospital made her husband tell them to get lost!! :D

There is *absolutely* nothing wrong with supplementing. I had to - a lot of moms do. Any amount of time/volume you can breastfeed is better than none, and it sounds like you're doing as much as you can, while staying realistic about your expectations. That's totally healthy. Don't get sucked into the stress of being the perfect breastfeeder! (We all want to be the perfect breastfeeder... but we all want to be billionaires too.)

Good luck :)

I still say it's unfair to introduce him to the series that far in. ;)
