1. What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Bought a house. Got a mortgage. All the "firsts" that come along with being a homeowner.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Didn't have one
last year. Uhh... this year it's to lose 15 pounds and to be a better boyfriend.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Ami, maybe? She's not all that close to me. I haven't, like, seen the baby or anything.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, and I still have never been to a funeral.
5. What countries did you visit?
Stayed here.
6. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
A finished basement we can consider square footage for resale.
7. What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
August 14, the day we closed on our house. Felt a little like we were selling our souls, making so many signatures.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
They're called Trophies on PS3. But seriously folks. Probably becoming handy; I always joked that someday I'd be handy, and now I know how to wire professional electricity.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Letting laziness and sweets get the better of me and gaining 20 pounds.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had surgery, but it was elective LASIK. A very creepy, surreal, uncomfortable surgery. But SO worth it.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
3 pairs of JBL Bluetooth headphones. Initially I got several real cheap to resell on eBay, but I made the "mistake" of sampling the product. Now I'm hoarding them so I can wear them for life. I was almost in tears when my first pair broke. They're fixed now with duct tape.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Rach's, for holding my hand through emotionally-crippling mood swings. I'm so, so lucky to have such a loving, patient girl.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own. I say the wrong thing far too often. And then hate myself for it.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Mortgage and house supplies, especially the snowblower.

Jeez, did I even read a book this year that wasn't home-builder tutorials? That's sad. Uh... the electrician's handbook that Steve gave me at the housewarming. Holy crap, handy diagrams galore!

Cut Copy. Listen to the track "Saturdays", that's how I fell in love with the 80s sound again.

A snowblower. Rach wanted it more than I did, but I'm glad we got it.

I honestly can't think of anything I'd rather have done or had happen. Things are great.

I'm not really into celebrities. But let's say Zooey Deschanel.

I admire Rach's brother Tommy in a weird way. Got to know him a lot better this year.
