I like the way you've built this part up to the end - Cedric's innocent slip, which comes out rather like something Luna would say very frankly. They really do seem to be growing on each other!

Thank you. They are growing closer and more comfortable with one another.

The first/best chapter with some real wisdom from Luna - sort of - I liked the chess thing - and a declaration of something between them at the end, yay!

I love this fic. I won’t go on and on about your characterization of Cedric and Luna as I’ve done in past reviews. Instead I’ll concentrate on one of the things I noticed in this chapter.

You do a good job of giving your characters dignity and having them respond as a person, rather than a plot device, might.

Cho, for instance, if written by another might have had an emotional outburst followed by her stalking Cedric’s every move. Upon finding out Cedric and Luna’s growing friendship Cho would immediately plot to destroy said relationship. You now have Cho as the villain who would have been pushing the plot for the remainder of the story.

I sincerely appreciate that you didn’t do that. You gave her dignity in her loss and had Cedric feel genuinely bad about it.

I’m not quite sure how he would have been able to get Firewhiskey. Is it because of the lower age limit in the UK ?

I believe the drinking age in the UK is eighteen. Given that Ron mentions something to the effect that he can't wait to try Firewhiskey in HBP, I've surmised that the wizarding world's drinking age is 17.

As for Cho, YES! Nothing gets me to press the back button faster than villifying a character for the sake of a plot. It's the mark of a hack. I have a particular soft spot for Cho, who is bashed by Harry shippers of every stripe for daring to be the hero's first kiss.
