Very enjoyable and very well written! I thought Luna was very much in character during her interrogation/torture, and I'm pleased that Harry now respects her all the more for that experience.

Thanks. The original idea behind the fic was for Harry to realize that keeping his friends in the dark did not necessarily keep them safe and to provide a possible reason for why Harry doesn't object to Luna fighting in the battle. Glad it seemed to work for you.

Good story in having Harry relearn that not telling anybody anything doesn't necessarily keep them safe, even after he was already told and shown that to be true. At least LeStrange didn't tell Luna, Neville's deepest darkest secret as a warning to her corporation, ie if she doesn't cooperate then she might not be able to feed herself again like Neville's father. Harry's attempt to replace Luna's necklace is sweet and at least he doesn't need to make it up to her by trying to find a private long term care facility for her and pay for it, like he might do for two others. Neville could have scars to prove Bella's use of a knife in torturing people that he gotten as a toddler.

Thanks for the comment. As I said in my email, your diary entries were instrumental in the writing of this fic, so I'm especially happy you liked it. I think Harry needed to be slapped in the face with his policy of cutting people off for their own safety not working. And yes, I think Rodolphus would prefer to use torture for interrogation. It's more fun for him.

I loved that line. It just summed up Luna for me. I thought you captured her beautifully (the line about the jollywob had me giggling), and showed the more solemn side of her with great poignancy.

Great piece: I loved the fact Harry learned that it doesn't matter who he tells or doesn't tell his secrets, it won't keep them safe.
