Winter Soldier crosses his arms. "I don’t like this. Poison would be much more efficient. Less chance of uncomfortable questions. Comrade Sorasky has important friends."
"Too unreliable. Besides, no one will question a prostitute coming to the traitorous pig's room." Natasha looks at him. "Is that what is bothering you? That I will sleep with him first?"
"Why would it? It's only sex, and I meant it when I told you to use all assets at your disposal." He brushes his right thumb against her lips, and she shivers. "Why should your beauty be any different?" Her eyes narrow. He thinks she knows he is lying. "I will come to your quarters tonight?" A question still, even after months. He dares not take her for granted.
She nods, and he allows himself an inward smile. He will come to her and blot Sorasky from her mind. They serve Mother Russia, but she belongs to him and he to her. Someday, perhaps, these divided loyalties will destroy them. But someday isn't now.
She kisses him and is gone. He watches long after she vanishes into the night, sighs, then picks up his rifle. He has work of his own to do.
