Shiina is always so handsome and grave! I've had a little Hewitt crush for the longest time because of him. :) It would be pretty startling to see him with a different face-up, but I've seen several people have their dolls' original face-ups replicated with great success, so hopefully it will work out for Shiina. Also, since the rest of his face-up is pretty minimalistic, it might be possible to have his eyebrows preserved, and just have repair done on the rest of his face?
Hi Emera! Thanks for the comments. I like all Hewitts - but I'm not sure if it's because of Shiina or just cos I like the mold so much. XD I didn't think it was possible to preserve the eyebrows while working on the rest of the face, but now I see Djinn's comment below yours - apparently one can! It's certainly a thought. I'm still loathe to have anything done to him, though...
One of my BJD friends has also done a similar kind of repair (fixing a gouge in chin-blushing, in her case) by blushing over the damage, then covering up the rest of the faceup with a piece of paper in order to re-spray just the damaged area - but if his MSC is yellowed, I guess you really might just have to wipe him eventually. :
Psst, San - I can't remember if I've mentioned it, but I've recently acquired an airbrush [though I didn't actually get it for BJD purposes XD;;], and if we mix up a skin-colourish tone you might be able to mask the chip while covering up the painted features. I've...uh...I've used it once to heal over a chip in the middle of heavy blushing...it saved my life didn't work out too badly.
Airbrush - that sounds so pro. XD Well, if you say it can be done - I believe you. I'm thinking of wiping him completely, though (except for the eyebrows, if possible) since his Mr. Super Clear is kinda yellowed and I've taken brush to (his) resin with little success over the years, too. When I can bring myself to wipe him, that is.
