I have no interest in joining DW. I just don't see the icon thing really happening there. The icon community is already very very small as it is, so unless literally every active maker moves there, an attempt to move over there will only split us into two tiny sections, which doesn't make sense to me. Obviously it's everyone's choice ot leave or ( Read more... )

Well that's why I said I would keep this journal for icon stuff. I don't think the community moving to DW would work. The mirror journals thing is just a safety net for me, for now.

(That being said I do think the new ToS thing is shady. That applies to all social media though, and if I didn't have online friends I want to keep in touch with and can't meet IRL, I think I'd just leave...)

I wish I could be more worried about what's to come... but I'm just not. I've no intention in going to DW.

I'll be here to troll your posts. <3

Yeah, we cant split the community, it's constantly on the verge of collapsing as it is, and we need the numbers to keep it going.

I just feel like we should create some kind of place where we can start over when LJ just goes boom someday. Like, instead of just having the whole community die, people would know where to go to keep going.

Tumblr is certainly not that place. But DW has steadily grown since January.

My DW flist is suddenly teeming with life. I like DW, and it could be a home for the community. I'm thinking we should consider making it a fallback or a safety net, a last resort.

(Pillowfort is always at the back of my mind as a new LJ-like thing, but they're still not out of beta.)
