There was another time when I gave some money to a guy who had stationed himself on the median of a busy intersection because he happened to make me laugh. I generally stiff these unfortunate souls, but his sign read, "Family killed by ninjas. Need money for karate lessons

I don't see why it would be morally wrong to give him the money. Comedy is a respectable job, and paying him for making you laugh is no different from paying a busker for making music.
