Some games have absolutely no trouble whatsoever. Some games are dogshit.

Sins of a Solar Empire was an easy install with no trouble that I can think of. Halo 2 Vista's "custom keyboard" area DOES. NOT. WORK.

It's up to the developers, really. The way I see it, they see PCs as a pirate-infested waste of money and are sometimes paying only lip-service by releasing their game on the platform. Other companies (Blizzard) can program.

And it's not like these are unknown problems... they just aren't being fixed. "But it's a small market! And piracy is totally rampant!" they might say... and I guess they'd be right. Unfortunately, it's screwing those of us that want a legitimate gaming experience.

I'm sorry, but I had to actually 'LOL' at your assumption that game studios magically get vista-upgraded machines the moment Microsoft pukes out its latest OS. It's basically a simple equation of marketshare - and at last check, even today, Vista is still a long way from being the majority of PC's out there. New ones, maybe. It would be a far bigger hamstring of your sales if you released it for Vista-only gameplay (as Vista's supposedly not the same architecture, whatever ( ... )

You can have such a version of Vista right now, actually: pick up either Business or Ultimate and enable the account "Administrator", then use that account as your main account and automagically you can do things you couldn't do before. Honestly, Vista's not that bad. It's different, yes, but it's as stable as XP for me and more secure ( ... )
