Downloading music is technically the same bootlegging.

The unauthorized manufacture, Distribution or sale of a product.

That's what you are doing when you share music online. I am not saying its wrong because I never buy any albums (ever). But does this guy just want to have more Mucc fans or does he get some sort of gain by doing this?

Well he obviously wants more mucc fans, but he obviously should have just left it at giving a cd to the manager and that's it.

The only gain he states is that he wishes to get enough people interested in Mucc to fill the venue if they play there.

I believe there is a difference between singular persons requesting or adamantly looking for something (in a community where it should be common knowledge to delete the files 24 hours after downloading, which is legal in my state for preview purposes.), and someone pounding the pavement and giving 14 full tracks to anyone who is willing to take them on a CD.

He must be full of shit. Why would anyone go to that much trouble.
He must be making some kind of profit or something. Also I completely agree with you about bootlegging. I would rob his ass if I saw him doing that at a concert or a venue where the CD he was giving away was the band playing. Link his Myspace I wanna see this guy.

My two cents from the far right, so to speak... downloading *is* theft. (If I want to preview something, I watch the PV on youtube, myself.) I personally don't download mp3's or vids, ever, for the same reason I don't download movies or video games. Someone, somewhere put a lot of work into this stuff in hopes of making a living off it. If I can't afford it, I save for it. To each their own, but I can't in all good conscience feel like a fan if I read an interview where tetsu is upset by the poor sales of CD's, knowing I'd downloaded their music.

Illegal distribution *is* wrong. Just not enough for most people to care much, apparently. And no, I'm not pointing fingers- just expressing the opinion of someone who has been involved in and studied IP law, and who likes to give bands money for music. I'm old fashioned that way. ;)

Well, I'm not sure exactly what you're expressing other than the fact that you do not download and buy your music. That's really great. And I'm not being sarcastic.

But, I do what is legal in my state and download temporarily for 24 hour periods before deciding whether or not to buy a particular album and then deleting the files, in most cases. I am guilty of keeping the downloads that are no longer available to buy, or that were leaks and never actually released, in the rarer cases.

My biggest point in this post is that you *should* buy the albums whether or not you download. The bands need to be supported internationally, or there is no reason for them to tour internationally. You can be the biggest fan int he world, but if the band isn't going to make money off of you, they aren't going to come and play for you.

Not to be rude and all, but we all *know* that downloading *is* theft and that illegal distribution *is* wrong.
I like to give bands money for their music too, and I do.
If I don't, then I won't call myself a fan, it's that simple.
And, lastly, the vast majority is not available for preview via PV, so *that* is not as simple.
