I'm still waiting to watch the episode. I didn't have two hours to devote to it last night, just caught the first 10 minutes or so. And I didn't even recognize the name of who was in the coffin. But perhaps it'll make sense when I watch the episode.
And, yeah, I'm horrible at predictions. But that's usually because I'm off on some wild tangent to what the story actually is. Even though I would've bet lots of cash on the fact the Others weren't the baddies from the onset of the show, I still couldn't be 100% sure, because it could've been more my hopes for the show progression than anything else.
I'll probably add more after watching the episode and such. Just have to find a block of time.
If I was smart, I probably would have just taped it and watched it tonight instead. But nope, I stayed up late. Ah well.
And you don't find out who's in the coffin until pretty much the end of the show, and yeah, it'll make a bit more sense when you see the episode. (I was very deliberate in not making the post a spoiler... but I did presume you already watched it. :P)
Anyway, the episode is pretty enjoyable throughout. There's a bunch of new questions that come about (at least for me), some questions that are answered, and some neat things that come about.
As for the Others... I wouldn't exactly define them as good or bad. Just goal oriented and ruthless when trying to achieve those goals.
Well, the good or bad line was mainly what got my interested in the show. It wasn't approaching things in an obviously black & white matter. It was playing with the audience's perception. I remember talking with my sisters early on in the show's beginning, and they thought that Jin was an abusive husband. And by that time I had pretty much figured out that she had betrayed him. But I'm just blowing my own horn after having been so trounced in the coffin business. Wounded pride, and all. But it goes to show that they're playing the cards in a nice manner. I still believe if they had fewer episodes, it would be better. But I'm impatient

I looked through my old posts and didn't find anything on it where I figured I would. I may not have looked far enough, but there is an off chance that Shaun did indeed guess that John Locke was in the coffin

Now Benry said that they had to bring -everyone- back to the island. I wonder if they meant Desmond, too. And if so... how the hell will they find him?
