Deer are becoming more suburban. We get them now and then in town. Outside of town they are common. There was one hanging out in the grass & shrubs on the Nationwide building in downtown Columbus 2 weeks ago. (This is across the street from the Marcon hotel.)
Re 'maters: Beware of walnut trees. They produce a substance that kills some plants. It mainly gets into the soil from the roots but the leaves can be a problem if old ones are mixed into the soil.
